First Sunday Healing Prayers

Opening (said by all together)   God of mercy and tenderness, we need your healing touch today.  Heal us of all sicknesses of body, mind, spirit and relationships; heal us of those illnesses that prevent us from becoming the people you want us to become. Remove from our lives the barriers that hinder our progress.  We admit, gracious God, that we are often afraid.  We fear the unknown.  We fear change.  We fear sickness.  Release us from the fears that paralyze us.  Reach down deep inside us, and gently heal those painful wounds that cause us so much distress.  Heal those memories and scars that confuse our thinking and distort our personalities.  We worship you and pray in the name and the power of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Blessed and Compassionate Jesus, we bring for your loving care and protection, on the stretchers of our prayers, and the wings of our faith all those who are sick in mind, body, or soul; for ourselves and for all whom we pray this day….

Take from us all fears and help us put our trust in you.Thank you Lord, for helping and healing.

Cleanse us of all resentment, jealousy, self-pity, pride, or anything else that might block your healing power. Thank you Lord, for helping and healing.

Fill us with the sense of your loving presence, that we may experience your kingdom of love in our hearts. Thank you Lord, for helping and healing.

Touch us with your divine, transforming mercy, that we may be healed and live to glorify you, this day and forevermore. In thankfulness to you Lord Jesus we pray. Amen.

Let us pray together:  God of all compassion and tenderness, we humbly confess our impatience when our lives do not work out in the manner we ourselves have prescribed.  We confess that we tend to demand instant results from you.  In so doing, we miss the miracles of your step-by-step process of healing and wholeness.  Forgive our lack of trust in your mercy.  Help us recognize the healing ministry of your Holy Spirit as we encounter you in every area of our daily lives, even in this moment of worship.  In the name and compassion of your son, Jesus Christ, forgive and renew each of us. Amen.
