Illumined by the Word : Manifesting the Word

Almighty and merciful God, through your well beloved Son Jesus Christ, the King of kings and Lord of lords, you have willed to make all things new: Grant that we may be renewed by your Holy Spirit, and may come at last to that heavenly country where your people hunger and thirst no more, and the tears are wiped away from every eye; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

         Behold: He’s always standing, knocking, arriving.  What is he finding?

Purify our conscience, Almighty God, by your daily visitation, that your Son Jesus Christ, at his coming, may find in us a mansion prepared for himself…

Prophets’ word, can it be heard?  Amid the din, lost again?

Lord God, as we come to share the richness of your table, we cannot forget the rawness of the earth.

We cannot take bread and forget those who are hungry.

We cannot take wine and forget those who are thirsty.

We cannot hear your words of peace,

and forget the world at war.
