A cock crowed, with mourning doves’ squawking geese. Two thieves hung too, deriding and seeking. One to be, or the other, not; with Him who declares “I have conquered the world” and finished it for All.
Lord Jesus Christ, Son of the living God, we pray you to set your passion, cross, and death between your judgment and our souls, now and in the hour of our death. Give mercy and grace to the living; pardon and rest to the dead; to your holy Church peace and concord; and to us sinners everlasting life and glory; for with the Father and the Holy Spirit you live and reign, one God, now and for ever. Amen.
Jesus’ mandate: “If I washed your feet, then what I’ve done you must do. I’ve laid down a pattern for you”
Your feet in Jesus’ hands a cup, in the garden agony of prayer. Your steps in Jesus’ way/truth/life- and even lost/strayed. One evolution at a time, again and again and again. Garden grain falls in, the pattern laid down for a blessed life.
Dear Jesus by your ‘thy will be done’ – ‘not mine’ during your agony in the garden give us the oil of grace for faith to trust, even when. Amen.
The disciples went and did as Jesus had directed them; they brought the donkey and the colt, and put their cloaks on them, and he sat on them. A very large crowd spread their cloaks on the road, and others cut branches from the trees and spread them on the road. The crowds that went ahead of him and that followed were shouting,
“Hosanna to the Son of David! Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord! Hosanna in the highest heaven!
Through the Passion of your Only Begotten Son, O Lord, may our reconciliation with you be near at hand, so that, though we do not merit it by our own deeds, yet by this sacrifice made once for all, we may feel already the effects of your mercy. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? Ps. 27.1
Almighty God, by the hand of Moses your servant you led your people out of slavery, and made them free at last: Grant that your Church, following the example of your prophet Martin Luther King, may resist oppression in the name of your love, and may strive to secure for all your children the blessed liberty of the Gospel of Jesus Christ; who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.

A beautiful idea for Palm Sunday How can we publicly acknowledge this important day on our calendar when so many of us will be behind closed doors? The Missionaries of the Holy Spirit posted this idea on their Facebook page: What if everyone on Sunday April 5 in the morning, puts a branch on the door of their house or on the window, to celebrate Palm Sunday? It could be any green branch you can get. This would help, despite the social distancing, to be connected as we enter into the Holiest of Weeks. Want to join? We may be physically isolated, but not separated. We are united as the body of Christ. We are the Church.
The Lord listens to our prayer: let us approach the throne of grace.
O God, your Son was lifted up on the cross so that all who look upon him with the eyes of faith might be saved: Make us, your Church, a living sign of your love. Amen.
O Jesus, to your servants give the consolation they require; and when the cloud of trouble falls, with heavenly hope their souls inspire. Be ever near us, Christ, to bless and help us in your faithfulness.
for now as we forgo the outward and visible signs of the holy eucharist, holy communion; the inward and spiritual grace and all the benefits of Holy Communion are always present and received when we desire to receive the sacrament. BCP 457.
ps. 131 Out of the depths we call to you Lord – Lord, hear our voice
Faith is strong medicine: Lord increase our faith, increase our desire
Holy Spirit, strengthen our confidence and faith in our Heavenly Father’s love and care for us, our families, and our neighbors. Amen.
God of love and mercy assist me in this time of trouble and anxiety. Ease my burdens. Strengthen my faith. Increase my trust and confidence in Your compassionate care. Give me the courage I need, dear Lord, to face the difficulties before me, knowing that with Your help, miracles happen and lives are restored.
I pray for a share in Your healing graces and ask that You surround me with Your comforting goodness, for health in mind and body, and for a heart filled with hope and peace. Amen
