{"id":1511,"date":"2020-07-19T07:37:44","date_gmt":"2020-07-19T11:37:44","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/standrewsharlem.org\/blog\/?p=1511"},"modified":"2020-07-19T07:40:39","modified_gmt":"2020-07-19T11:40:39","slug":"7-19-the-7th-sunday-after-pentecost","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/standrewsharlem.org\/blog\/?p=1511","title":{"rendered":"7\/19 the 7th Sunday after Pentecost: Waters of Hope"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Now hope that is seen is not hope. For who hopes for what is seen? But if we hope for what we do not see, we wait for it with patience.<\/span> Romans 8<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #003366;\">Let us pray &#8211;\u00a0 Almighty God, the fountain of all wisdom, you know our necessities before we ask and our ignorance in asking: Have compassion on our weakness, and mercifully give us those things which for our unworthiness we dare not, and for our blindness we cannot ask; through the worthiness of your Son Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.\u00a0Amen.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #003366;\">As we confess our weakness and blindness at the font of the waters of LIFE we are reminded that &#8211;\u00a0 By it &#8211; in it \u2013 with it \u2013 we are able to accomplish all things needful for God\u2019s kingdom on earth.\u00a0 The eternal waters of Life and HOPE are free for all.\u00a0 St. Paul reminds us that hope is found in patience and faith:\u00a0 Faith that what we yearn for \u2013 yet cannot see \u2013 will come to fruition in God\u2019s time.\u00a0\u00a0 When the Hebrews were escaping the weeds of bondage all they saw were the captor\u2019s chariots behind them &#8211; and ahead Moses and the weeds of Red Reed Sea and the turbulent waves of deliverance beyond \u2013 they quickly panicked.\u00a0 In their fear and blindness and weakness some said: We\u2019ll never make it, Let\u2019s drown ourselves! \u00a0As the fear and blindness \u2013 and weakness \u2013 spread, others said We\u2019ll never make it &#8211; Let\u2019s go back to Egypt\u2019s comfort breaking bondage!\u00a0 Fear and blindness \u2013 and weakness &#8211; continued to spread and others said We\u2019ve had enough \u2013 Let\u2019s fight back!\u00a0 And as the fear, blindness and weakness overwhelmed them in the rising waters pressing through the reeds \u2013 others said All is lost- Let\u2019s cry out to God to save us!\u00a0\u00a0 Then God spoke to Moses and said Go Forward \u2013 And Keep Going! \u00a0And the waters of deliverance parted \u2013 as the Grace ALL SUFFICIENT made a WAY.\u00a0 In this life, the love of Christ urges us on \u2013 forward ever \u2013 backward never.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #003366;\">God of love and mercy, assist us in these times of trouble and anxiety. Ease our burdens. Strengthen our faith. Increase our trust and confidence in Your compassionate care. Give us the courage we need, dear Lord, to face the difficulties before us, knowing that with Your help, miracles happen and lives are restored. We pray for a share in Your healing graces, and ask that You surround us with your comforting goodness, for health in mind and body, and for hearts filled with hope and peace.
